The Dept of Computer Science & Engineering organized a technical talk titled‘Big Data & Data Analytics’ on 8th February, 2016 in Auditorium, I Block, Kengeri Campus. The guest speaker was Mr. NicoDecourt, Senior Lecturer, Staffordshire University UK. All the BTech and MTech students of CSE were part of the session.

Mr. Decourt commenced by providing a brief introduction on big data and its evolution. The main focus was on the various aspects of big data as well as the challenges that organizations face due to the production of voluminous data on regular basis.Mr. Decourt also talked about Apache Hadoop, an open source software framework for storing big data and the various parts of it including Apache Hbase, a non-relational distributed database. Real Time Analytical Processing (RTAP)was also a major topic with an emphasis on the increasing demand from organizations to discover data interactively for real-time insights.

Apart from Big Data Analytics, Mr. Decourt also spoke on the various job opportunities in the field of Big Data. Mr. Decourt was also kind enough to share with the students some insightful information in pursuing higher studies at Staffordshire University United Kingdom.
